Today, businesses without a web presence are toast. Now, you thrive or dive based upon your web presence.
Some businesses try to do too much. The result is often a cluttered, difficult to navigate site that visitors quickly depart from with only a sense of frustration.
Simple, clean sites that load quickly and directly better meet most visitor needs.
Here are a few effective sites RLGAD has created. Some are still under development; others are complete.
Steve Jost is the consummate pro when it comes to photography. Go ahead, spend the rest of the day scrolling through his site—it will be time well spent.
I have worked with Steve for well over a quarter-century and would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.
The motoryacht Mauretania is eighty feet of elegance afloat. Built by the legendary Trumpy yard in 1947, she now is available for charter. Her owner wanted a low-key website to highlight her amenities, history, and charter capabilities.
Notice the "Mauretania" in the upper corner. I found a wonderful new typeface that has a number of glyphs and swashes (type-talk for all those whoopty-dos).
About a month ago, I was asked to rebuild the website for Join-Up International, a non-profit organization teaching humane training of horses. Founded by "the real horse-whisperer," Monty Roberts, I had four days to build the site and have it functional for a network television interview of Monty. Made it! Then spent the next week and a half fine-tuning it. There's a lot going on in this site. Also, enjoy the opening page music by friend and composer, Joe Alfuso.
Design is similar to many businesses today. Think Van Gogh. "I'm sorry, Mr. Van Gogh, we really like your sunflowers stuff, but we're looking for someone who has done hydrangeas."
Well, I decided last week I wanted to do some restaurant work, so this site for the mythical "Stability Sushi" is an exercise in restaurant web design show-and-tell. Besides, without a client, I can get more "designy."
Pat Roberts is a very talented sculptor making works of art in clay and then casting them in bronze. Her works are collected by royalty, museums and private collectors all over the world.
Gayle Carson is an attorney specializing in estate planning, trust formation and probate administration.
Located in San Pedro, she wanted a website that would be colorful yet professional, while at the same time expressing her love for sailing—hence the compass rose and positioning statement shown here.
L&L Tool & Die in Gardena is one of those small companies that does
Together with photographer Steve Jost we created an amazing website that communicates a quality business fully capable of the most demanding manufacturing and custom prototype work. We gave them a new logo and just
look what they did with it!
Sometimes you just know when someone is good... really good... at what they do.
Meet Joe Alfuso, a really talented composer. You can spend an entire day just listening to his music. And Joe does it all... everything from scores for westerns to music to bicycle with if you're an Oogielove (whatever an Oogielove is).
This website showcases the incredible work of Seaborn Flags. Again, the site is directly the result of my partner in web development, photographer Steve Jost.
Little Air Giant builds top-of-the-line air cylinders. Nobody does it better.
Steve Jost's remarkable black and white photography captures the feel and the precision of this remarkable company and their products.
This site is still in development, but Steve's work is just too good not to show it off a bit.
It's not fair. Some people just seem to have talent in abundance. Meet Carlton Wilborn. He's one of those people gifted with more than anyone's fair share of talent.
From a tough childhood he went to road-trippin' with Madonna in Blond Ambition to starring in the feature film The Boarder, where he showcases both his talent as an actor and his humanity as a person.
Who would have ever thought it? Miniature Mannequins! Donna Cook not only thought of it, she's perfected it. Two feet tall, each individually created, this series of products is the absolute epitome of creativity.
And while you're at at, notice again Steve Jost incredible photography!
Frank Boehm is amazing! If you are IBM and need a program to captivate a few thousand people at say, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas... who you gonna call?
Frank does it all. This site makes good use of YouTube to stream a myriad of videos showcasing Frank's broad spectrum of talent and shows.
Some start-ups are more interesting than others. CAH will fly scheduled amphibious air service to Catalina from Long Beach Airport.
Steve Jost and I went along to shoot the amazing images for this website. Tough job, but you got to do it, right?
The owner wanted a fun, tropical feeling to both his aircraft and his corporate identity. Here we are... fun and tropical.
The last thing you need is for the rigging on your sailboat to fail. Might ruin your day. Meet MPECO. Very old school; do it right or don't do it at all. An amazing rigging shop backed up by a full-on machine shop to fabricate just about anything you can dream up. The site highlights all their products, including VangMaster, the best rigid boom vang in the business!
Steve Jost is a photographer's photographer. You can get completely lost in this site, literally for hours Go ahead, take an afternoon off and read about Steve's sailing Viva throughout the Caribbean.
Be sure to also check out his SmugMug gallery pages where you can buy some of the most breathtaking marine photography in the world.
RLG Entertainment Group was set up to showcase original concepts for reality television shows.
It is a clean, simple site that is easy to navigate and straightforward in getting its message across.
Walk into Certified in San Clemente, California and you expect well, an alternator and and starter shop, right?
Welcome instead to a world of custom fabrication, complete machining and welding. This ain't yo mamma's alternator shop.
