You just purchased a product of a specific brand. Was it impulse or otherwise?
Odds are you bought it because it stood out... in a good way. This is the purpose of package design. When done creatively and with flair, it is ultimately what sells your widget. Why? Because It draws the eye , and makes your buyer feel a certain way about your product. Packaging can say "this is the cheapest you can buy" or conversely, "this is the very best there is."
Knowing how to make your product stand out from all your competitors is the designer's job.
