Tortugal River Lodge | Rio Dulce, Guatamala

Make it something different

Design Comments

Started this design by googling for "tortuga" images. Saw a number of different images including some native illustrations. None of them really worked for me. I wanted "fun"—it is a resort. So I googled "turtle" and somewhere along the line up came a paper maché image of a turtle done by a six-year-old. Perfect!

Took it into Illustrator and used it as a guide to create a vector-based turtle. Because it is a resort I wanted the key lettering to continue being playful and well, serendipitous. I balanced that against the serious and more business-like "River Lodge" font and then grounded it all visually with the location type at the bottom.
